We are excited to launch  ‘Run Northland’

Need something to keep you motivated, or do you just need a goal to focus on? Join us on 7th June to take on Run Northland.

Run/Walk - 5km, 10km, 21.1km, 42km

Choose your distance, complete it at your place of choice at your pace.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It's as easy as 1-2-3! 

  1. Register

  2. Run or walk

  3. Upload results

You can participate alone, cruise with a mate, natter with the whānau, or spend some MORE quality time with the kids! You're even in control of how competitive you want to be - heck, you can even PLAY along the way if you like! If you're keen to get on the leader-board, submissions will need to be verified accompanied with a snapshot of your time/distance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to live in Northland to particpate?


No - Anyone in NZ can participate




Is it ok to stop my watch during the event to eat some kai and use the bathroom?


Of course we want to be well fuelled during the event, however as per an actual event, the clock doesn't stop until you have completed your distance.




Do I have to complete my virtual distance in one run/walk?


Yes. Your distance needs to be covered on 7 June 2020. It cannot be segemented into multiple runs/walks through the day.




Can I still do the event even if I don’t have a device to record it on?


Yes you can, but your results will not be able to be verified and added to the leaderboard. You will however still receive a medal and be in the draw to win a spot prize. Please consider downloading a free app (eg. Strava, mapmyrun) to your phone to record your event.




What happens if I choose to run in a different distance on the event day than what I selected during registration?


That is absolutely fine. There will be no transfer fee. Please follow the following instructions for how to change this on your Dashboard prior to starting your run/walk:

  1. Login to your Dashboard by clicking the MORE link in the menu of any of our web sites.
  2. Then click manage my entry
  3. If you don’t already have an account, follow the prompts to create one and validate your email address.
  4. Once you have validated your email address, your registrations will appear in the Registrations tab.
  5. Find the appropriate Registration and click on the “Details” button.
  6. In the Registration details page, click on Make Changes -> Select RaceToRaceTransfer
  7. Follow the prompts




What happens if I don’t complete the required distance of my chosen event? Do I still receive a medal?


Any results that don’t meet the required distance to be covered in your specific event unfortunately will not be verified to the leader board. You will however still receive your medal.




What happens if my tracking device doesn’t work or fails mid virtual event?


Check your device and software in the days leading up to the event to ensure it is functioning as it should. Remember to charge your device! Unfortunately, if your device fails or doesn’t work, you will be unable to upload a supporting image of the distance + time for us to verify your result. You will however still receive your medal for giving it a go.




How do I upload my results?


We are lucky enough to have Strava integrated into our registration system. They are a clever bunch and we are super lucky to be able to have access to this feature.

Follow these steps to upload your results:

  • Visit here

  • Follow the prompts.

  • When you get to the last question ‘Evidence Upload’, you can upload a photo from any fitness tracking app. Please note that the photo must show your name, date/time, and distance travelled on foot.

  • Click the ‘Submit’ button

  • The Events team will then receive a notification that you have submitted your results. Please allow us time to enter your results into the system. Once it has been entered, you will then be able to see your results displayed on the results page.




Will I receive a bib for the event?


You sure will! A personalised digital bib will be emailed to you. Print it out and chuck it on!




Where am I allowed to run/walk?


Anywhere! As long as it is within the MOH Covid-19 guidelines at the time of the event.




Can I run or walk the event on a treadmill?


Yes, simply complete the distance and take a photo of the treadmill screen to prove your run and time.

Can anyone participate?


Yes!




What should I do if my kids don’t have a device to track their distance?


If they did it with you then your device snapshot is sufficient.




Can I transfer my entry to someone else?


To ensure fair and accurate competition – it is absolutely vital that we have the exact name and personal details for everyone taking part in any of our events. If you pass your race number on to any other individual, you *must* tell us about this by following the transfer procedure noted below. Failure to do so may result in your disqualification from the event.

Person to Person Transfer Procedure

  1. Login to your Dashboard by clicking the MORE link in the menu of any of our web sites.
  2. If you don’t already have an account, follow the prompts to create one and validate your email address.
  3. Once you have validated your email address, your registrations will appear in the Registrations tab.
  4. Find the appropriate Registration and click on the “Details” button.
  5. In the Registration details page, click on Make Changes -> Person-to-Person Transfer.
  6. Complete the details for the new person. You must accept the Event Waiver on their behalf.
  7. Check the box to remove the Registration from your Dashboard if you would like the new person to be able to manage the registration themselves. The registration will then be available to Dashboard of the email address you specify in the transfer.
  8. The new person will need to use the race bib of the original person, so please pass this on.




Where do the profits go?


If any profits are made during this event, they will go straight back into our Northland community via other Sport Northland portfolios.




What is the event safety information?


You are entering the event at your own health and safety risk. You can read the waiver upon registering.

  • Be aware of hazards on your chosen route – pre plan!
  • Stretch/warmup before heading off and listen to your body – injury free!
  • Take water with you – hydrate!




How do I record my activity?


There are countless apps out there that will do the job, however we suggest using Strava as its free and will get your result uploaded immediately to our results page however we know not everyone wants to get Strava (or cant) and you may have a preferred method of recording already so on that note use what your currently using so long as we can see your name, distance travelled and time when it comes time to upload your result.
